Christmas.

Christmas....so close yet so far away....
My sisters are in different countries and I'm the only left here in Lima. I live with my father, I don't like living alone. He's my best friend (male bff) and we still don't know what we are going to do this Xmas. My mom passed away two years ago from lung cancer; sometimes I really need her advice about something, mostly about cooking, she was an excellent cook. Thank god we-my sisters and I- inherited the joy of cooking. We, M., V. and I have different styles of cooking but we are good at it.
I remember once my mom was sick, M and I had to prepare the turkey. I made the stuffing and seasoned the bird. I have to say it was THE best turkey ever!

I wish she was here to see her flowers open or delight us with an incredible dessert.

Changing the subject, this is a very bad Cristmas for me so far. I haven't sold anything in months! My shop is with 20% discount plus free shipping and Xmas gift.
Could you please tell me what's wrong? Are the prices high or you don't like my work?

I know there's a crisis but I see people buying jewelry more expensive than mine!!

Please, take a look at my shop and tell me. Be honest!

Clearance

I'm closing my Etsy shop. There's nothing happening in there. The shop is with 25% discount using the coupon code CLEARANCE25 on check out.

It's time for me to move on and create new pieces of jewelry. I have a good stock of stones to set, plenty of ideas in papers all over the house (and in my handbags, I always carry a small notebook and pen).
I miss so much the heat of the torch, the soldering, forming the metal, sawing, filing, having my hands full of silver dust and dirty....I miss the rush!

I will get new tools soon and maybe a new camera to take better pictures.

This is my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/vivilima

If you find something you want but it's a bit expensive, let me know so I can separate it for you to pay in lay away.

Thank you for reading this!

Cheers,
Vivi.

Hello Again!

I know. I have been postponing my posts in the blog. First I was away, helping my sister with her clothing making. I must say I'm proud of her; she is such a talented designer! And then, it was vacation. M (my sister) and I rested from the sewing and cutting fabrics and went to the beach. I forgot to mention she lives in Israel, in a city close to the beach and far from the conflicts.
We went to Eilat, on the Red Sea, did some snorkelling, got a tan ;-) and saw dolphins. We had a great time, inspite the suffocating heat.

It's winter here in Lima, a weird sunny winter, and I miss my sister....

I had the chance to meet a local artist who works with glass and makes amazing jewelry. You can find her work here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Rachelcartglass

Oh, I forgot to mention that I finally reached the 500 fans on facebook!!! A giveaway must be done. I tried to do one in facebook, in my page but I don't know what happened!

Anyway, the giveaway is on but I have to figure how to do it wright. If you can help me, you're more than welcome!

I will try to post some pictures of my travel. Here are a couple, the first one is from Shfayim beach at the secind one from Eilat, at Dolphin Reef.

Summer.

Summer is here with all this heat, sweating all day, trying to stay like a lizard and cool down. Temperature is not that high but it's very humid and sticky.

On the 28th of December I went to Santiago, Chile with my father to spend New Year's there with my sister. It was hotter than here in Lima but the weather is more dry.
She lives in a quiet neighborhoud with restaurants and shopping markets some blocks away.

On the first of January we went to Bellavista, where you can see Pablo Neruda's house.
We also saw many grafitti on the walls and some artists doing some.

The next day we went to Valparaíso, a very pictoresque town, full of grafittis too and the houses painted in different colours. It is next to the sea. I can't find a picture now! First we took a tour to a vineyard, we tasted some wine mmmmm! And then back on the road to  the coast.
Finally we arrived to our desired destination: Viña del Mar. The beach! They say the water is very very cold but that day it was refreshing, not so cold, not too warm.

During the week I went to a local craft market. There is a lot of copper in Chile and the jewelry was cheap. I bought a pair of earrings made of copper with silver and lapislazuli, also a local stone.

Unfortunately, I dropped my camera in the vineyard (I didn't have too much wine!) and it broke.....I will try to take pictures with my phone to show you the earrings. Here are a couple of pics:

I also went to Joya Brava, a jewelry school and could talk with Pamela de la Fuente, a talented artist and great person : http://www.escuelajoyeria.cl/pamela-de-la-fuente/
I love her work!

Well, that was my adventure in Chile, I started 2012 there for a change, I hope this year will be different and prosperous in every way.

See you next time!

Vivi.
